Getting a Piano
A piano with 88 functioning keys is an absolute must. Keyboards are not an accepted instrument, but a high-quality digital piano may be acceptable for the first year or two of study.
Getting a quality instrument does not need to cost thousands of dollars. Often people are giving pianos away at no cost. Try looking on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, or even calling local churches.
Be sure to hire a piano technician to come look at the piano with you; you don’t want to get a “free” instrument that ends up costing more than it’s worth.
You’ll also have the cost of a piano mover to consider.
The chances that you will find a decent piano, have it checked out, and moved to your home for only a few hundred dollars are quite good!
